32 Couples Celebrate Mass Wedding
Thirty-two couples of the Holy Family Catholic Church at Bogobiri have solemnized their marriage in a mass wedding at the St. Thomas Cathedral in Obuasi.
The nuptial Mass brought together over 1,200 congregants comprising families, friends and well-wishers. In attendance were scores of Catholic priests, Men and Women Religious as well as Rev. Ministers of other Christian denominations.
The couples were prepared for the Sacrament of holy matrimony by Rev. Fr. Clement Adanse, the Parish Priest of the Holy Family Parish. As part of the preparation of the couples, Fr. Adanse impressed upon them to tone dawn excessive adornments associated with wedding ceremonies and rather focus on their spiritual significance.
In his homily, Most Rev. John Yaw Afoakwah, Obuasi the Bishop, who presided over the nuptial Mass, advised married couples to consider their call to married life as a means to promote the Kingdom of God on earth. He decried the recent advocacy for same-sex marriage being peddled around in some parts of the world.
The Bishop enjoined couples married in the Catholic tradition to let their marriages underscore the source and essence of family life which upholds and promotes the dignity of the human person. He also encouraged the newly wedded couples to see their “marital status in Holy Matrimony as witness to their Christian calling by living exemplary lives”.
